Whoa there’s a lot of awesome tracks to be had on the September playlist, from a stellar new joint by the always reflective Mick Jenkins to even better standouts from artists like Grande Marshall and Little Simz. One of my surprise finds included “Golden State of Mind” by Fashawn with Dom Kennedy, that didn’t make it on any mixtapes, but certainly is a head-nodding, beach jam. Even though it’s late in the season, can’t I secretly imagine that I live in Cali? There are a number of preview tracks from future albums that will be coming out in October, which hopefully will be featured on next month’s Best Listens. I had to round it off with the surprise/not really that surprising collaboration between Flatbush Zombies and The Underachievers aka Clockwork Indigo. Beast Coast kicking it up a notch.
